I've always been in favor of gameplay over graphics (growing up only allowed to play on handhelds perhaps influenced this) but only now am I beginning to realize how important good control is. I just bought Resident Evil 4 on PC. See, I'd heard Resi 4 was amazing, and it is a fantastic game. It's just that Capcom, in all its infinite wisdom, decided to a) map the controls all to keyboard wonkily, omitting the mouse entirely,b) not allow me to change them, and c) designing the game to be played with a gamepad so the buttons that flash up on the screen to, say, not get hit with a giant boulder are 1 and 3, which dont have a quick obvious correspondence to my keyboard. Gah. The point i was making before I went on a rant was, as important as gameplay is, you can't tell if the controls are bad/
Game play/controls. What's the point in playing a game if you don't enjoy what's going on? What's the point in playing a game if the controls are so terrible you can't pay attention to the rest of the game? Eye candy only goes so far.
My windows are usually simple...but I admit right now everything is red and has flames that glow when you scroll over them. It's a Zippo lighters theme. :>
i'm a graphics whore... but i voted controls cuz i know how easy it is to get pissed off at a pretty game with crappy controls. take windows vista as an example... lmao

Hell, I'd be willing to play it Doom style for good story alone.
S'why I've given up on the FF series. Yeah, it looks good, but the story is about as engaging as the story in Shoot 'em Up.
Keep your eyes peeled for the average gamers.
Nothing's broken, it's just functioning differently.
